3 Commitments on Giving to Sound Church

June 28, 2009 in Uncategorized Comments off

Great News! Sound Church can now accept online donations! The best part is any contribution marked as a gift will have no fees from PayPal, so 100% of your donation goes to building the Kingdom through Sound Church!

WE MAKE 3 COMMITMENTS ABOUT YOUR GIVING TO SOUND CHURCH

  1. We commit to Modesty – I like luxury as much as the next guy, but we prefer changing lives over fleets of Hummers!
    Would you like one too?
    Would you like one too?

The reality is, there are too many leaders in Christianity that appear greedy. Check out what Paul told the Ephesians: But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God’s holy people.”

  2. We Commit to spend it right the first time – Rather than ask for a Bailout, we will use wisdom and spend
    Start with responsibility
    Start with responsibility

every dollar right the first time. The parable of the Sower talks about an unwise farmer who wasted 75% of his resource because he did not pay attention to where he invested it.

  3. We commit to the highest ROI possible - We count every gift because every gift counts! The corporate world is judged by their ability to bring each investor the highest Return
The HIGHEST Return on Investment possible
The HIGHEST Return on Investment possible

On their Investment! Jesus seems to care about this also in the parable of the talents!

Our Launch date is set for February 2010 and we are believing God for $150,000.00 so we can launch in strength. What can you or others you know do to help?

And rest assured, we will track every contribution for your tax records!

TO GIVE ONLINE NOW, Simply visit PayPal now!

(If you give online by visiting PayPal directly rather than the button, the email to enter when sending money is Giving@MySoundChurch.com. Be sure to click that the payment is personal and a gift so we do not get charged for receiving your tax deductible contribution!)

Thanks for prayerfully considering what you can do to change lives in the Great Northwest!

Sound Church Vision in a Nutshell

June 16, 2009 in Uncategorized Comments off

So you might be wondering, “What is Sound Church About? What will be different about this church in Shoreline?”

We are so glad you asked!

Sound Church exists to amplify Jesus Christ by reaching Up, Out & In! We are SO PASSIONATE about reaching our city!

We are brand new and still seeking God for His complete desire, but here is a concise description of what that means to us:

We will Amplify Jesus in the three main categories

1. Amplifying up

Through worship and bringing honor to God

  • Corporate worship – There is nothing like gwtting together with a few hundred of your closest friends to worship the God of the Universe!
  • Personal worship; lifestyle of worship – Worship is not a slow song, but it can be. We can amplify Jesus by worshipping at home, in the car, and with our lifestyle and choices.
  • Lifestyle (Romans 12:2)Our lifestyle and choices we make will make the world wonder. Why is it you can control your emotions? (Self-control is a fruit of the Spirit) How is it you can say no to drugs? Why can’t you be the best employee at your company? What if you were the most generous person in your family? All these are trats that a lifestyle of worship can exemplify. Your lifestyle can bring honor to God!

2. Amplifying out

Getting outside of the church

  • Evangelism- A word that makes many shudder (author included) can be done in a manner that amplifies Jesus.
    • Events – Great events ca attract people that the standard church service may not. Plus, they are a blast!
    • personal – Your life is the best way to preach. REAL Church begins when you leave the church!
  • Community service
    • How can we serve and be a blessing to our community?
    • Ideas: Outfit police cars, buy fire deparment equipment, clean streets, etc.
  • Social Justice
    • Helping people who don’t have: homeless, transportation, orphans, widows…
    • Goal: to bring social justice! Unlike many well-meaning churches, our goal for social justice is not to add more people to our congregation. it is to amplify Jesus by helping people without ulterior motives!
    • Secondary Purpose: benefit the people of Sound Church who are involved in bringing justice!

3. Amplifying in

  • Discipleship
    • Who said you can’t start making disciples before a person knows the Lord? We are called to make disciples, not to qualify them.
    • Discipleship comes at a cost and contains discipline. We intend to show people why it’s worth it
  • Building the House of God
    • Sound Church is a community. All communities need to grow and maintain or they will fall to the law of atrophie. We will build God’s House so it is a powerful community able to make a significant impact on the community around us and within us!
    • Small groups. We will be a church community OF small groups. Large Groups, corporate events are very cool, but church community is found in smaller circles and provides accountability, prayer, confession, common interest, & common unity.
  • Raise, develop and empower people to do what God has called them to do in their lives
    • Our agenda is to build God’s version of your agenda! What can we do to make you the most successful you possible? Christian Leadership is not called to do the work of ministry, but to equip YOU to do the work of ministry!
    • Sound Church will equip you in any way possible to build God’s Kingdom and Amplify Jesus!

What Sets SOUND CHURCH apart?

  • Solid balance in wisdom and in spirit – Some people love the wisdom of God; so do we. Others love to be in the presence of the Holy Spirit and see the gifts at work; so do we. For many, it is an either/or scenario; for us, its ALL OF THE ABOVE!
  • Heart to reach the unchurched. You are called to be bright and salty. Many Christians are dark and bland. We will reach unchurched people without compromising our values and integrity. But if you are used to traditional methods, we might be too bright and salty for your taste!
  • Empowering people to pursue God’s plan for their lives. There are enough people in the world out for their OWN agenda. God has called YOU to greatness. We want to help YOU find it!
  • Sound Church purposes to be of Sound mind, & sound foundation: solid, not just theological whims!
    • We purpose to be Real, Raw & Relatable with the Truth of the Gospel
    • We purpose not to “sugar coat” the truth, but to accept anyone where they are today as they are. We plant, we water, but God brings the growth and change to a person’s life.

So that is us in a nutshell (if you could see the PAGES of our hearts on paper, you wold see this is only a small sample of the amazing future ahead of us!)

But enough about us, what do you think of us? Please comment below:

A Church of Substance

June 10, 2009 in Uncategorized Comments off

Sound Church is a new church plant coming to the Northwest in 2010. We will be planting our church with the assistance and guidance of the Association of Related Churches (otherwise called “ARC”). Part of our process is to get to know how ARC is different by visiting other ARC churches. We had the privilege of visiting Substance Church in the Minneapolis area this past weekend!

The short story is that Substance seems to be what we desire to become… but we did not know church like that existed yet! We came away encouraged because we know it is possible! Substance Church is a Hybrid of many “models” in church planting, taking the strengths of each and minimizing their weaknesses. Pastor Peter Haas has written a book on church government and I have to admit, what they are doing is working to see many come to Jesus in authentic faith!

Something we have said for a long time is that the successful church of the future needs to be Hyper-Transparent! As we attended Substance’s 101 class, they handed each person a folder with all their financials! They were not afraid of anyone seeing their books, because they had nothing to hide! They operate the Church on a margin of 40-60% of the income, using the rest for missions and church-planting! We believe Pastors Peter and Carolyn Haas will be key relationships for us personally as well as in ministry! What an example!

Why can’t Church Be Different? Another thing we loved was how they major on the majors and minor on the minors. The saying goes, “people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” Well I would say these guys have a great balance of loving people first and allowing the Holy Spirit to convict. You see, truth is truth, and people need to know it. But the rest of us need to know when we should not say things as much as when we should. We see a church full of sinners coming to Jesus! For this to happen, we need to welcome sinners to the church!

Pastors Peter and Carolyn shared so much of themselves with us in 6 hours! by now, i feel like they have been in our lives for years! And they really believe in us and our calling, willing to help in any way, and even put their money where their mouth is!

If you are in the North or central Twin Cities, you have got to check out Substance!
